I’ve spent the last two hours staring at a giraffe’s vagina…
Words I never imagined I’d be muttering my entire life. This is what I’ve become thanks to the internet. Years ago, I’d have never known that this giraffe was pregnant or that she even existed. Now, I am confident I am not the only one watching her walk around her pen with two legs sticking out.
The world is a much smaller place because of the internet. It unifies us around a common cause. It brings us together. We rally around each other when we find something we feel strongly about. Not only friends, but people we’ve never met. I am playing scrabble with someone in Australia, how amazing is that?!
The dichotomy surrounding the internet is facsinating because, while it certainly unites us, it also divides us so widely it feels that we will never find common ground. Our similarities and differences are spelled out in black and white now. Intentional or not, we show our true selves with each ‘like’, meme, status update, pictures, or personal blog (yes, I totally get the irony there). This has made it ridiculously easy to judge one another so much more harshly than ever before. It’s the new, sad reality.
And, you thought this was going to be all about April’s vagina!
Gotta go, the head is out!
