My husband and daughter share the same musical tastes. Every single person in this family thinks my music is trash. I can’t sing and have been told numerous times not to even try. In all, every aspect of my musical contributions have been shunned or ridiculed. I am a proud 80s pop connoisseur with no appreciative audience in this family.

My daughter and husband started a contest with each of them “claiming” a band or artist, trying to one up each other with their picks.

She: Pink Floyd

He: The Who

I tried to play but was laughed out of the game when I interjected with Michael Jackson. (I hate my family.)

She: Beatles

He: Eagles

She: Elton John

He: Fleetwood Mac

Journey, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Rolling Stones, Aerosmith  …

This went on a few more rounds and I could tell it was getting harder and, honestly, I was only half listening when my husband yelled out:

Queen!

Damn! Kill shot!

Even I knew that was the end of the game.
