Hahahahaha!

I grew up watching the reruns of Leave it to Beaver. I thought the Beaver was adorable and Wally was dreamy. Even as a kid, I knew that Eddie Haskell was a suck up and an asshole. I remember the show being wholesome and funny.
It was.
It is.
Through the years, I’ve always stopped and watched it if I happened upon it during a channel surf. Decades later, it is still entertaining.
I set the TV to record several shows recently: Bionic Woman, Wonder Woman, and Leave it to Beaver.
As entertaining as the Bionic Woman and Wonder Woman were when I was 10, I found it difficult to watch at 51. My god, I was easily entertained in the 70s! Those shows are pure shit. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll still watch them out of spite and for nostalgic reasons but, man alive … what stupidity!
This morning I watched Leave it to Beaver and just about laughed myself to tears. That show is hilarious as an adult. I never paid much attention to the adults before but, today, found myself drawn to Ward and June. The looks they give each other when Beaver is clearly bullshitting are priceless. I never noticed how often the parents were bemused or irritated or frustrated.
I definitely have more in common with the parents as I re-watch these classic episodes and this has given new life to a show that has stood the test of time just fine. I’m sure they will have things that are politically incorrect or sexist but that was the era and it is awfully closed-minded to dismiss it as a whole for a part. That’s like burning books. I’ll look past those parts and enjoy the rest because, honestly, it’s hysterical.

Agreed. Another that has survived the test of time which is even funnier to watch as an adult is “The Beverly Hillbillies.” One of the funniest satires ever.
