Keanu: Yes, please!

My last few blahgs have been a little dark — dark enough that I got at least a couple of welfare calls to see how I was doing. I was merely taking advantage of my artistic license, being overly dramatic, I guess. I’m #FINE, by the way.

Tonight I write about something that makes me immensely happy: Keanu Reeves

That man is perfect from his long hair and scraggly beard down to his slightly pigeon toed right foot.

I’ve loved that man since Parenthood when he gave the speech in the kitchen about his abusive father. I’m a fan but not so much that I’ve seen every single movie. I’ve seen many but not all. And, even then, I’m honest enough to admit that they are not cinematic works of arts in the least but, they are super fun to watch, mainly because of that gorgeous man!

I enjoyed him in Speed and adored his moves in The Matrix even if I didn’t understand the plot. I nearly fainted when he had a surprise part in Always Be My Maybe. He walked into the scene in epic slow motion and it has been turned into a meme that has since gone internet viral for all its awesomeness.

I just binged on John Wick on Sunday, John Wick: Chapter 2 on Monday, and treated myself to John Wick: Chapter 3 on Tuesday. Without a doubt, the absolute highlight of each day as I allowed myself to escape into his dreaminess while watching him kick some serious ass. *sigh*

My hearing loss makes his mumbled line delivery difficult for me to understand but, who cares?!

A new video game, “Cyberpunk 2077”, was just announced and when the main character came into view and removed his sunglasses to reveal that the first person shooter was Keanu Reeves, I nearly peed myself. I was not alone. The gaming world collectively lost their damn minds:

I play the hell out of “Left 4 Dead” and I’m no gamer but, I am buying this one! Pre-Order!

He loves animals, he gives up his seat on subways, he donates to charities, he has persevered despite some devastating life setbacks, he eats sandwiches alone on park benches, he’s got the flattest stomach known to man, his shower scenes are … I digress.

Sure, it’s easy to fall in love with someone like him. I just see the perfection and that’s a hard image to taint. Because I’m shown nothing else, it’s easy to pretend that this man has no faults. In my fantasy, his feet never stink and his hair doesn’t get greasy when he doesn’t shower.

That’s what happens when you have a crush on someone you see only in strictly structured settings. You don’t see that person at home on the weekend when they first wake up or haven’t brushed their teeth nor have you experienced, first hand, the human quirks we all possess. That person gets mentally idealized in a way that is impossible to maintain empirically.

That is a danger.

Well, no worries.

I’ll probably never meet Keanu in real life so I’ll idealize and idolize him to my heart’s content with no fear that my dream will be destroyed. I’ve never seen a bad news story about him and he seems to be a genuinely good guy so my love continues. 💋
